We Mourn The Loss Of Heath Ledger

Heath LedgerWe were shocked and sad yesterday to hear of the death of a beloved and well known actor – Heath Ledger. When I saw the words flash across my screen I didn’t know what to say or think. Honestly I thought and hoped that it was a pitch for a movie – but was devastated to hear that he had died all alone in his New York apartment.

Heath Ledger – 28 – was a native Australian and was known for his role in ’10 Things I Hate About You’, ‘A Knights Tale’, and ‘Brokeback Mountain’ (which he was nominated for an Oscar). In 2005 he met Michelle Williams (co-actress on Brokeback Mountain) and together they had a daughter – Matilda until they split apart last year. We were looking forward to seeing him play the Joker in the up and coming Batman sequel – ‘The Dark Knight’. (more…)

‘LOOK’ Shows Us That Safety Comes At A Price

Filed under: Movie Trailers, UpAndComingMovies — lucky_irish87 @ 11:06 am

‘Look’ PosterAfter 9/11 security was reinforced. Airports were harsher with their security and if you had even a nail clipper you would be kicked off the flight. Even schools have gotten stricter in their rules and what they allow. One of the best ways to keep anyone secure and to know everything that happens is to use a security camera.

There are now approximately 30 million surveillance cameras generating more than 4 billion hours of footage every week in the United States. And the numbers are only growing. The average American is captured over 200 times a day - in department stores, gas stations, changing rooms, and even public bathrooms. No one is spared from the relentless, unblinking eye of cameras hidden in every nook and cranny of day-to-day life. (more…)

E! Gives Their Take On ‘I Am Legend’

‘I Am Legend’ PosterSo I haven’t gotten a chance to see ‘I Am Legend’ yet so I haven’t been able to write a review. However, below is a review given by the competent people at E!

Will Smith grapples with existential angst and cannibalistic vampire-zombies (in that order) as, apparently, the last man on Earth after a bioengineered plague. Maybe not the most uplifting choice for a holiday flick, but Smith’s riveting performance and tight action scenes make this a smart, gripping view of the end of the world.

Smith plays Lt. Col. Robert Neville, a military medical researcher living in the wasteland that used to be Manhattan. He fills his days doing the Last Man on Earth Workout™—dude is cut—and hunting for a cure with his faithful dog. At night, he locks down his brownstone and hides from what the rest of the world has become. (more…)

‘Book Of Secrets’ Is As Good As The First

‘National Treasure: Book Of Secrets’ PosterThe puzzles have returned and the riddles are here to lead us to the next clue. National Treasure: Book of Secrets is almost as good as the first movie. Jon Turteltaub has brought back all of the character from the first movie (Nicolas Cage, Diane Kruger, Justin Bartha, Jon Voight, and Harvey Keitel) and has even introduced some new character (Ed Harris and Helen Mirren).

This time Ben Gates, Riley, Patrick, and Abigail are out to clear the name of Thomas Gates (ancestor of Ben and Patrick Gates). There is a page from the diary of John Wilkes Booth that shows that Thomas Gates had a hand in the assassination of one of the world’s greatest president – Abraham Lincoln. (more…)
